Of course, this is nothing new \u2013 years ago Masha Hamilton wrote \u201cThe camel bookmobile,\u201d about a bookmobile in Kenya. I recently read, \u201cThe library at the edge of the world,\u201d by Felicity Hayes-McCoy, which is about an Irish librarian who drives a bookmobile, from time to time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Closer to home, and more recently, one can find both \u201cGiver of stars,\u201d by JoJo Moyes and \u201cThe book woman of Troublesome Creek\u201d by Kim Michele Richardson, novels centered on the Kentucky Pack Horse library service. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">In researching this blog, I came across Mary Lemist Titcomb\u00a0(May 16, 1852\u2013June 5, 1932), a librarian who developed an early American bookmobile and helped establish a county library system in Washington County, Maryland. A recent book about her, \u201cLibrary on wheels : Mary Lemist Titcomb and America&#8217;s first bookmobile\u201d by Sharlee Glenn, tells more of her story.
