{"id":1469,"date":"2022-12-19T09:05:08","date_gmt":"2022-12-19T14:05:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/liclblog.townoflongisland.us\/?p=1469"},"modified":"2022-12-19T09:52:16","modified_gmt":"2022-12-19T14:52:16","slug":"dylan-thomas-in-wales","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/liclblog.townoflongisland.us\/?p=1469","title":{"rendered":"Dylan Thomas and Wales"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This month, in the midst of celebrating a Celtic Christmas, Evergreen United Methodist Church, on our fair island, was honored to host Abraham Schechter, the Special Collections Librarian at the Portland Public Library, and his wife Angelika, who shared with us about Christmas in Wales, as seen through the eyes of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dylan_Thomas\">Dylan Thomas<\/a>, the famed Welsh poet. After reading to us, &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/A_Child%27s_Christmas_in_Wales\">A Child&#8217;s Christmas in Wales<\/a>,&#8221; Abraham showed us photographs of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Swansea\">Swansea<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dylanthomasbirthplace.com\/\">Thomas&#8217; home<\/a>, where Abraham was fortunate enough to be the writer-in-residence at Dylan Thomas&#8217; home. (At another point, Abraham spent some time at <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Kilns\">The Kilns<\/a>, the home of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/C._S._Lewis\">C.S. Lewis<\/a> in England, so he is indeed a man blessed to live amongst the homes of these two amazing literary men).
